Liverpool vs. Burnley: team news

Liverpool will miss Jordan Henderson at the penultimate home game 2019-20 when Burnley visits Anfield on Saturday.

The captain suffered a knee injury during the midweek win at Brighton & Hove Albion, which will exclude him from the last four games of the season. However, no surgery on this topic is required.

“Hendo is really the best possible bad news,” said Jürgen Klopp on Friday at his pre-game press conference. “It is a knee injury, but no surgery is required.

“He won’t play in the last phase of this season, but I’m pretty sure he’ll start the new season with us.”

Elsewhere, the champions are welcomed Dejan Lovren back to the matchday squad after the defender had fully trained again after a muscle problem.

Joel Matip is Liverpool’s only other confirmed absentee during an attack. Mohamed Salah needs a goal to become the first Liverpool player since Roger Hunt between 1965 and 1966 – and only the fourth in club history – to score 20 league goals in three consecutive seasons.

In the meantime, Burnley has reported no new fitness issues before traveling to Anfield.

Jack Cork (Ankle), Ben Mee (Leg), Matt Lowton (Feet) and Ashley Barnes (Hernia) fail for the Clarets, however Chris Wood strives to start after substitute appearances in the last two games.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady are also available for Burnley.

Sean Dyche said: “We limit ourselves to the changes we can make for the start because I don’t think the young boys are ready to start, but they could come.”

“Woody has a better chance. Johann and Robbie, we have to be a bit sensitive because they didn’t have a lot of football while Woody was in operation until the shutdown.

“He has a better chance than the others, but we have to involve the others slowly but surely, and we’ll try to do that.”

Burnley travels to Anfield midway through the week after a 1-0 win at West Ham United, finishing 10th Position in the Premier League table.

“We are in good shape,” added Dyche. “It will require maximum effort, concentration and understanding of the game and hopefully they will have a calmer day because when they show up it is very difficult.

“Even with the power of the players and the manager they have, it is very difficult to win the Premier League.

“It’s difficult to win titles or get promotions. I have absolute respect for the way and the style in which they achieved it. “
