Liverpool gave a boost that could help dominate Man City
The announcement that Leroy Sane will leave Manchester City for Bayern Munich at the end of the season could be welcome news for Liverpool fans.
It has already been discussed whether Pep Guardiola’s team can close the gap with the Reds after such a comfortable title race for Liverpool next season.
But the news that Sane will be leaving at the end of the season is very important to the Reds. The German international has only played eleven minutes since winning against Jürgen Klopp’s team in the Community Shield in August – and City’s national campaign certainly paid off in his absence.
A 23-point lead that currently separates both sides shows how big the difference has been since last season’s exceptional title race, and shows that things haven’t quite clicked for City this year. While there are other reasons for City’s loss of form, Sane’s absence and Guardiola’s subsequent departure can cause concern.
The talent that Sane possesses makes him one of the most coveted wingers in world football with his speed and proven quality in the last third. City has maintained its attacking performance this season, but it’s obvious that the loss of a player who made 20 goal contributions in the 2018/19 Premier League season will significantly weaken a manager’s options.
