LeSean McCoy agrees to deal with the buccaneers

NFL season." data-reactid="16">LeSean McCoy has a new team for his 12th season in the NFL.

The veteran running back has struck a deal on a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal will add McCoy to a group of newly acquired veterans, including Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.

McCoy just won the first Super Bowl championship of his career, although it was a season in which he posted the fewest runs of his career.

In 13 games with the Kansas City Chiefs, McCoy posted 465 rushing yards (4.6 yards per carry) and four touchdowns while adding 181 receiving yards. He was nearly forgotten in the playoffs, posting zero touches after averaging 9.9 per game in the regular season.

In Tampa Bay, McCoy will likely serve as another depth option, although he may see more touches than usual in training camp after some lineup move.

Bucs put rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn on COVID-19 list

The opening of the Buccaneers training camp saw the team place rookie running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn on the newly created reserve / COVID-19 roster.

Vaughn landing on the COVID-19 list obviously complicates this situation.

With McCoy on board, the Tampa Bay depth map suddenly looks crowded at the top. In addition to McCoy, Vaughn and Jones, who have seen their ups and downs during his two-year career, the Buccaneers also have Dare Ogunbowale, who worked as a third receiving specialist last season.
