The challenge for the Latvian team was especially great, because the team in the ORC3 group sailed on a small 28-foot or 8.5-meter-long yacht consisting of only two people. According to the winners, it is especially gratifying that they managed to get the first place not only in the most difficult stage of the race so far, but also to be the first to cross the finish line in the 107-yacht competition.

“This was our stage, because the yacht was prepared to be competitive in light winds. We took all the brands of the race distance and came first to the finish. We followed the weather forecast and chose to go along the mainland coast. In general, I think this was the helmsman’s distance “The slow and changing wind conditions were a test that required a lot of patience and a lot of emotional control. And it was patience with the chosen fastest course that brought us to the end point this time,” said Artūrs Skroderis from the “RTS BALTIC” team about last night’s performance.

The tailor also reveals that it was the result provided by the “RTS BALTIC” team that determined the finish control time for the other boats in the group, which it was necessary to include. It is for this reason that 15 out of 19 teams did not count and only four teams scored in the third stage. Successive race organizers decided to increase the distance control time in the fourth race distance. Tailor. answering the question about the fiercest competitors, it does not hide that in the third stage in the ORC3 group the biggest competition was made up of the ladies’ team “PILOILLERI III”, in which the President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaida also sailed.

“The result of our past day was due to meticulous weather forecasting and the ability to distribute forces, because it is no secret that it is very difficult to maintain concentration for more than 12 hours. We tried to use every wind change and admit that our boat usually shows the best performance on wind , “Arnis Remess, the captain of the yacht GURU, also shared his thoughts on the results of the third stage. His team ranked fifth in last day’s regatta, as well as first place among cruise yachts, which have a separate group and awards in the “Muhu Vaina” competition.

In the third stage of the competition, due to the slow wind, the organizers were forced to adjust the distance and the participants sailed about 60 nautical miles or 110 kilometers on the route from Pärnu to Kuivasta. “It was difficult. We had to shorten the distance of the race by almost half of the originally planned route. The reason was the very light wind shown by all forecast models,” said Jūris Sobers, chief judge of the Muhu Vaina regatta. After the finish, all the yachts went to the port of Cardla on Hiiumaa, using the engines, where the winners of the stage were awarded yesterday.

As the organizers of the competition reveal, this stage was very difficult for both the sailors and the organizers. The start was given on Tuesday at 10.00 in the morning, but the whole hike to Kardla lasted until the middle of the next day, when all the yachts successfully reached the start port of the fourth stage on Hiiumaa Island, from where the regatta starts today. The first yacht to cross the finish did it shortly after 22.00 and it was the Latvian yacht RTS BALTIC.

“The fourth stage of the competition today is the longest stage of the regatta. The wind forecast is much better for today, but based on previous experience, we are also ready to shorten the course if necessary,” adds J. Sober. Today, the entire regatta fleet travels from the port of Cardla on the island of Hiiumaa to the port of Haven in Kakumae, near Tallinn. The total distance of the regatta is planned to be about 100 nautical miles or about 182 kilometers.
