Jürgen Klopp thinks about Roberto Firmino’s question, while Liverpool prepares the rethink in midfield

Liverpool responded to its defeat in Manchester City by beating Aston Villa in Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds took their time, but eventually scored a 2-0 win and moved within 11 points of a century with five games remaining.

The new champions continue their winning round when they travel to Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday evening.

Jürgen Klopp will now check his options after resuming rotation on the weekend.

And here we look forward to the changes that the head of the Reds could make the next time Liverpool is in action.

Milner is ready

Liverpool ultimately relied on Villa with the same defense that leaked four times at the Etihad three days earlier.

With Joel Matip injured and Dejan struggling, the heart of the backline is unlikely to change.

Neco Williams is still knocking on the door to start instead of Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right.

However, it is more likely that James Milner, who is expected to be available after a missed weekend with a muscle disorder, could replace Andy Robertson as a left-back.

midfield player

Klopp has been turning his engine room since the Premier League resumed last month.

Fabinho was connected to Villa by Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

In the end, young scorer Curtis Jones was featured in midfield alongside Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum.

All three will push for a start at Amex, although Jones may have to be satisfied with the bank.

Firmino or not?

Roberto Firmino was among the substitutes against Villa but made a difference when he was substituted for the below average Divock Origi and is ready to return from the start.

Takumi Minamino wasn’t there at all and would benefit from more minutes, although Xherdan Shaqiri – back on the weekend for the first time since January – is likely to get a short run-out at best.

Sadio Mane is the only striker in Liverpool who hasn’t been rested since the promotion restarted, and could be the one who makes room if Klopp continues to turn his striker line.
