Jumbo-Visma has announced which riders will start in Strade Bianche next week. The Dutch team saw Wout van Aert drive to third place last year. The Belgian is again one of the strengths of the team.
For Van Aert, the Italian one-day game will be his first race since the corona break. “Since the beginning of June, I have been specifically working towards the restart of the season, so I am allowed to start. We put the finishing touches at training camp in Tignes. My goal is to be good right away and to keep it as long as possible. ”
The classicist already rode Strade Bianche twice before. He secured third place in both 2018 and 2019. “Strade Bianche is a very nice course to start with. In the past I rode good races after a training period, so I hope so now. After two podium places, I naturally aim for a top result again. ”
In addition to Van Aert, Mike Teunissen and Amund Grøndahl Jansen, among others, have also been selected. “They are all strong men”, the Belgian continues. “That’s why I think not only should I be ambitious, but also riders like Mike and Amund. We will do everything we can to achieve the best possible result. ”
