After a successful two-week stint on Matthew Fitzpatrick’s bag, Jim (Bones) Mackay will make a cameo for another of the world’s best golfers.
Golf Channel Chantel McCabe reported Wednesday that Justin Thomas has been taking on the hook for a long time for the next two weeks. And they are two big tournaments with this week’s WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and next week’s PGA Championship, the first major of 2020.
According to McCabe, Mackay is compiling for Jimmy Johnson, who is battling the dizziness related to the Memphis heat. Johnson also sat down part of the Memorial, where Thomas’s father Mike took his place.
Mackay helped Fitzpatrick finish the T-27 and the third soloist in consecutive events, the Workday Invitational and Memorial, hosted at Muirfield Village earlier this month.
Thomas, 27, is currently n. 3 in the official ranking of world golf. He is teamed with Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama in the first two rounds of the TPC Southwind.
