Safety Jayron Kearse moved from the Vikings to the Lions as a free agent this offseason, but he won’t be in Detroit’s roster for the first week of the season.

The NFL announced Friday that Kearse has been suspended for the first three games of the 2020 regular season. Kearse’s suspension is for a violation of the league’s drug policy.

Kearse will be allowed to attend training camp with the team and the suspension will take effect at the start of the first week of the regular season.

Kearse, who signed a one-year contract at Detroit, recorded 79 tackles, one interception and one fumble as he appeared in 62 games for the Vikings over the past four seasons. The majority of his playing time in Minnesota has come on special teams.
