Jan Vertonghen could be an ideal partner for Harry Maguire at Manchester United, said former Tottenham Hostpur employee Jermaine Jenas.
Vertonghen has confirmed his departure from Tottenham through a heartfelt upload on social media, after playing his last party in the English Premier League this season when Spurs drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace on Sunday (26/7).
The 33-year-old defender told his followers on Instagram: “So, my time at the club is over, a sad day for various reasons.”

The Belgium international has made 315 appearances for Spurs over the past eight years, forming a solid duo with compatriot Toby Alderweireld.
Vertonghen himself once expressed readiness to look for new challenges at the beginning of this year, with Spain or Italy being the next destination.
Jenas believes the defender can still give a lot of things in the Premier League and can be an answer to the back line problems experienced by United.
Maguire has been one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top defenders since completing his £ 80 million luxury transfer from Leicester City last summer.
However, the England international defender has not formed a good understanding with Victor Lindelof, and Jenas assesses the arrival of Vertonghen would be a more appropriate option to form a formidable defender duet.
