Inter boss admits Alexis Sanchez Man Utd transfer saga is “abnormal problem”

Inter want to keep the expensive Manchester United striker Alexis Sanchez.

The Serie A club got a brief extension to Sanchez’s loan deal so they can watch the rescheduled domestic season in San Siro, but is expected to expire in early August.

Now Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has admitted that he wants Sanchez to stay on their books to play in the Europa League and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a permanent move.

Marotta, who has agreed that his club would pay £ 4.5 million for the UK’s £ 500,000 per week contract for his services this season, described the European situation as an “anomaly”.

He confirmed his desire to hold talks with United’s counterparts about Sanchez’s future.

Alexis Sanchez has done well for Inter since rebooting

Marotta told Sky Italia Sport: “This situation is an anomaly, considering that the result of the entire Europa League may be influenced by the absence or absence of individual players.

“This has not yet been resolved. We are working on it and we want to keep it tight at least for the rest of the Europa League.”

Inter in second place still have two league games before tackling the Spanish team Getafe in a single game of the last 16 in Germany.

The Europa League mini tournament will run until August 21, three weeks before the scheduled start of the next Premier League season.

Inter and United could meet in the semifinals if both progress, in a game for which Sanchez would not be eligible.

United are believed to be unwilling to extend Sanchez’s loan again and are looking to grant a permanent transfer.

But Sky Sports Italia said that a permanent deal for the 31-year-old would only be possible if he accepted a sharp cut in wages.

Sanchez has done well since the block with six assists in the last seven games.
