How Tottenham finds himself supporting Chelsea in the Premier League final and FA Cup after the Wolves’ victory

Simply put, Tottenham can only qualify for the Europa League for next season if Chelsea help them.

Spurs fans will hate to admit it, but they could really use a favor of their rival bows between today and the end of the domestic campaign.

The Europa League qualifying game looks set to go down until the last day (and beyond) after the Wolves beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on Monday night, putting them firmly in control of sixth place.

Wolves are in the driver’s seat for sixth place

Win the final game of the season and Europa League football for Wolves is guaranteed. But guess who that game is? Chelsea.

With Spurs wandering only one point from Wanderers ahead of a favorable trip to the Crystal Palace on the last day, Jose Mourinho will cheer on his former club to take points from the men of Nuno Espirito Santo this Sunday.

Because of the goal difference, a point will take Spurs above the wolves if Chelsea managed to beat them on the last day, while Tottenham’s win in Selhurst Park would do the job if the Blues managed to draw.

And that’s not all. If the Wolves beat Frank Lampard’s team at Stamford Bridge, Tottenham will find himself cheering for the Blues twice within a week.

After Sheffield United’s defeat against Everton, Tottenham will never end below seventh, and this could still guarantee football in the Europa League. But only if Chelsea beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final on August 1st.

That’s because winning the FA Cup comes with a place in the Europa League – which Chelsea wouldn’t need, since they are guaranteed to finish in the top six.

If Chelsea wins the final, the place in the Europa League would be added to the rankings, which means that seventh place would qualify.

However, with Arsenal likely to end out of the top six, the Gunners will qualify for the Europa League by winning the English Cup, which means there is no European football for seventh place in the Premier League.

Mourinho helped Chelsea by beating his four best rivals Leicester 3-0 on Sunday – now it’s time to return that favor.
