“He’s not even close”: former New York Jets quarterback chooses between Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson

There is no denying the fact that Lamar Jackson has experienced a phenomenal rise from a rookie to a starting quarterback. Even the Baltimore Ravens would not even have imagined that the 23-year-old would become an NFL player of choice in his second season only. He is indeed talented, young and if he regularly produces similar performances over the next few years, it would be a matter of time before he was qualified as an elite. Currently, the world of football is divided into two spheres. While some claim that at this point, Jackson is the deadliest quarterback in the NFL, others believe it is still Aaron Rodgers who runs the station. Such a debate took place in the television program “Get Up”. The video of the debate was published on Twitter.

“Aaron Rodgers is still great but I’m more terrified of Lamar Jackson”

ESPN recently released the 2020 NFL season overview, where they ranked the quarters based on the votes they received. Aaron Rodgers placed third while Lamar finished sixth. This is where the debate started.

Former Dallas Cowboys defender Marcus Spears has revealed that Lamar is the one who will terrify him on the field.

Spears said, “Look, we know this is historic. Let’s be honest. We know that Aaron Rodgers’ third place is based on the story of Aaron Rodgers. If you watched the NFL like I did last year, Lamar Jackson for me … You can argue that he should be ahead of Russell Wilson. But if you look at the NFL and ask me, “Who are you terrified of playing against Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers … And it’s not that close. Aaron Rodgers is still great. Aaron Rodgers is really good, went to the NFC championships last year. But Lamar Jackson causes me more problems than Aaron Rodgers. Is there a better passer? No. If it’s an entire football game, I’m more terrified of Lamar Jackson than Aaron Rodgers at this point.. “

However, Spears’ advice was rejected by ex-New York Jets quarterback Greg McElroy.

Is Rodgers out of Lamar’s reach?

According to the 32-year-old man, Lamar is far from Aaron Jackson. Although he appreciated Jackson’s abilities as a passer, McElroy firmly believes that Rodgers is the man anyone would choose if he wanted to win the Super Bowl.

He said, “I love Lamar Jackson. It should not be less than five. We will start there. Are you serious right now? You’re going to take Lamar Jackson, right now, based on his playoff performance. Because that’s when you are defined as a quarterback. I’ll give you the regular season stats whatever you want. It is very good. Give them to me. I saw a million amazing guys in the regular season but I can’t do it in January. Well, guess what, Lamar Jackson in two playoff starts has been remarkably unimpressive.

Greg continued, “I know it’s a weird show, I know it’s just meant for celebrity. It is just beginning. I actually believe he’s a much better smuggler than some people think. He’s a little streaky, but as he continues to develop and become a more versatile player, he would be hell on wheels. But speaking at this point … If you have to win the Super Bowl, right now you have to win the Super Bowl, you take Lamar Jackson to start for your team or Aaron Rodgers. Of course, for me, it’s Aaron Rodgers. It is not even close.

Lamar Jackson has a bright future

Jackson had a dream start in his NFL career. He is the second youngest player in NFL history to be recognized as the player of choice. Besides, he is also only the second footballer to be crowned MVP unanimously. His achievements are wonderful. But these are all individual achievements. To qualify as a great quarterback, Lamar must guide his team to victory in the Super Bowl.
