Club legend Horst Hrubesch, 69, returns to the second division soccer team Hamburger SV after almost four decades. The club’s long-time DFB trainer, as the person in charge of the youth performance center, is supposed to drive “the processes in talent development”. Hrubesch worked from 2000 to 2016 in the youth division of the German Football Association (DFB). In 2008 he won the U19, a year later with the U21 European champion, and in 2016 he won the silver medal as a trainer with the Olympic selection in Rio. The former center-forward had played for HSV from 1978 to 1983, won the European Cup in 1983 and scored 96 goals for Hamburg in 159 games.
