Is sport the enemy brother of literature or is it an art form for which there are no words? Trend: undecided. A search for traces where the world of football and that of the spirit touch.

The world was waiting for football
but first she got poetry.

Football went slowly
in the sky.
Now you saw
that the grandstand was occupied.
The poet stood alone in the gate.
But the referee whistled: offside.

“Night Stadium” was the name of the poem, recited by Günter Grass, who went around the world on May 31, 2002, in the global preparatory program for the World Cup opening game in Seoul. Only in Germany, probably because of technical problems, it was not broadcast. You can see the lecture by the Nobel Prize winner with bizarre South Korean subtitles in the exhibition “Günter Grass: My Football Century” in the Grass House in Lübeck until the end of September, and then in the German Football Museum in Dortmund.
