Former Timberwolves co-pilot expected to be confirmed as Knicks head coach

Tom Tibodo, a 62-year-old American specialist, has become the head coach of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) New York Knicks club, according to a Twitter post on the unit’s social network.

Tibodo has long been mentioned as the main candidate for the position of “Knicks” head coach. The last job for a basketball specialist was the Timberwolves of Minnesota, from which he was fired in January 2019. 2017/2018 For the first time in 14 years, the team qualified for the “play-off” tournament for the first time in the year, but it was not enough, and the specialist did not work until the next season.

From 2010 to 2015, the specialist was the head coach of the Bulls team in Chicago. Previously, Tibodo has worked as an assistant in several teams – Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics. From 1996 to 2004, he served as an assistant to the Knicks.

As an assistant, he became an NBA champion with the Celtics in 2008. In 2011, he was named the best coach of the season in the NBA.

According to the New York Post, the list of candidates for the New York Club included 11 specialists. One of them was Ime Udoka, a former assistant to San Francisco Spurs head coach Greg Popovich, who worked for Spurs from 2012 to 2019. Another candidate was Willowy, Popovich’s current assistant, who is considered one of the substitutes for an experienced specialist as Spurs’ head coach.

For the seventh time in a row, the Knicks were out of the play-offs. In the main event, the New York club ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference with 21 wins in 65 games. The season team started under David Feddale, who was replaced in December 2019 by Mike Miller.
