Fabio Quartararo and his intense week of rehabilitation in Girona

Neither the convalescent Marc Márquez, nor the Empordà native Maverick Viñales, nor the veteran Rossi, nor Dovizioso, the dominator of the Moto GP races in the return of the world championship of motorcycling is Fabio Quartararo. A Frenchman from Nice, only 21 years old, who with his two consecutive victories at the Jerez circuit has put his name on everyone’s lips and has left Márquez in a very complicated position: the five-time world champion in the queen category he will have to go back 50 points to the French driver to have options to revalidate the title. Quartararo is the feeling of the moment confirming what he had hinted at from a very young age, that he is a very fast driver, but that he has not exploded so far after an atypical and not without problems race. Among others, a bimaleolar fracture of the right ankle in the season of its debut in Moto3, from which he recovered in record time in Girona with a week of intense rehabilitation work at the Sportcat clinic.

It was in 2005, when he was not yet 16 years old and with a special permit to skip the minimum age, Fabio Quartararo debuted in the Moto3 World Championship with the Estrella Galicia 0.0 team with the label of future hanging star because, at the age of 14 and 15, he had already won the Spanish Speed Championship twice. Quartararo took the podium in his second race and repeated in the seventh, but in September he went ashore in Misano, in the GP of San Marino, and suffered a fracture in his ankle which had to be operated on Barcelona. Forecasts spoke of eight or nine weeks off, but Quartararo reduced them to just three thanks to a treatment done at Sportcat. “I remember that when he injured his foot when he was racing the Moto 3 World Championship, Fabio came to do an intensive rehabilitation with us to try to be on the circuits as soon as possible. After his injury, from which he needed surgery, he accelerated his recovery time with us and was able to rejoin the competition before the end of the season “, explains the director of Sportcat, Dr. Jordi Surós, about a pilot who over time has returned more times to the center of Girona to be tested for effort and who remembers that he explained that “he had never done a treatment like what was done then here.”

After a week of intense treatment in Girona, with the latest generation rehabilitation equipment from Sportcat, Fabio Quartararo was able to run again before the end of the 2015 World Championship. But in the following years, not even in Moto3 nor in Moto2, where he ran without luck with Sito Pons ’team, the Nice rider didn’t quite explode. He didn’t make it to Moto GP, first getting it last year pole positions with ease, and now in this return of the competition winning the first two races in Jerez.
