Sergio Perez will not participate in the British GP, scheduled for Sunday 2 August on the Silverstone circuit.

After not showing up on Thursday at the circuit following the choice of self-isolation, a consequence of the test with an “uncertain” outcome, but which the team had defined as “inconclusive”, for Perez, who had skipped the media-day dedicated to press conferences, is the most shocking and bitter of the revelations arrived, which emerged after the ex McLaren was tested in the following hours.

The position taken by Formula 1 and the FIA ​​was immediate, and they issued a joint note: “Perez has entered quarantine in accordance with the instructions of the competent public health authorities and will continue to follow the procedure established by these authorities”.

“With the assistance of the local organizer of the British Grand Prix, local health authorities and the FIA ​​COVID-19 delegate, a full traceability initiative was undertaken and all close contacts were quarantined.”

Then, the specification that the GP is not at risk: “The procedures established by the FIA ​​and Formula 1 have provided for a rapid containment of an accident that will not have any wider impact on this weekend’s event” reads again.
