F1 pilots may kneel to support the fight against racism – F1sport.cz

McLaren pilot Lando Norris spoke about the possible activist involvement of the competitors.

“Some pilots have already talked about this possibility. But if that is to happen, it should be consistent. We want to show that we respect and care about everyone. When the time is right, we will do what is needed.

I want to be better than other riders, but we should all have the same conditions. It is not fair that people are treated on the basis of their race.

Millions of people are interested in our sport. The more we riders, but also the teams and the whole Formula 1 community, the greater the impact it will have, ”believes Norris.

A symbolic kneeling means that an individual supports a popular anti-racist movement. The gesture is gaining ground, especially in the current protests following the death of American George Floyd.

If the pilots protest, it will happen as part of the Austrian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
