Ex-USC QB JT Daniels has given up Georgia

Quarterback JT Daniels received an exemption for Georgia after moving from USC in May.

Daniels announced the decision on Twitter and thanked the NCAA for granting the waiver while refusing to explain the decision in more detail.

After a knee injury at the 2019 USC season opener, he still has three years to play. Daniels started out as an absolute newcomer to USC in 2018 and went with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for 2,672 yards. Kedon Slovis replaced Daniels and had a record 2019 quarterback season. Daniels entered the NCAA transfer portal in April.

He is expected to compete with Georgia Newman, a graduate transfer from Wake Forest, and others for Georgia’s starting job. ESPN rated Daniels No. 3 Pocket Passer and No. 64 Nationwide Player in Recruiting Class 2018 after starring for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California.
