Eagles place 3 players on reserve / COVID-19 list with Lane Johnson confirming positive test

The Philadelphia Eagles have placed three players on the reserve / COVID-19 roster, according to an official announcement from the team. They are: starting right tackle Lane Johnson, starting linebacker Nathan Gerry and offensive end tackle Jordan Mailata.

The Eagles further explained this designation:

The Reserve / COVID-19 list was created for a player who tested positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with one or more infected persons. In accordance with NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on a player’s state of health other than to refer to roster status.

Johnson has confirmed he has tested positive for the coronavirus. He is the first known Eagles player to contract the disease.

It is currently not clear whether Gerry and Mailata have also tested positive. This trio will obviously have to be cleared before being allowed to return to the team.

Eagles players showed up at the NovaCare complex for the first round of testing and screening for COVID-19 on Tuesday. Players will return to the facility for the second round on Friday.
