Dynamo Dresden waives legal remedy: dismissed without complaint

Dynamo Dresden will not take any legal action against relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga. The club announced this after a meeting of the management with the representatives of all association bodies. Most recently, the six-time GDR champion reserved legal means against the German Football League (DFL) to compensate for a competitive disadvantage, which the club had warned about.

“In the process of weighing up the risks, we found that any consequences could not be foreseen in every detail,” SGD Supervisory Board Chairman Jens Heinig quoted in a statement: “We would have had to be prepared with all the consequences that we would have to deal with the legal dispute for years with very little prospect of success. Such a costly distraction from our core business, in which a lot of resources would be tied up, cannot be in the interest of our association. “

Dresden sees itself enormously disadvantaged by the restart of the second division after the corona break. The team had to be quarantined due to several positive corona tests, which the club now doubts. The program with nine games in 28 days was a serious distortion of competition. Dynamo went into the Corona break as the bottom of the table and eventually relegated as such. An application to increase the league, which the club had proposed to the DFL in order to ensure that it remained in league two, will not be put up for discussion by the DFL at its general meeting.

“To be right and to be right are unfortunately sometimes two different things,” said commercial director Michael Born and hoped the fans would understand that the legal steps were not taken. Sport Managing Director Ralf Becker added: “It is no secret that we would have liked more solidarity from both the German Football League and the other clubs”, but now the “full focus” and the ” full force “on the 3rd league.
