The first meeting of the Dodgers and Astros since Houston that was punished for stealing signs during the 2017 season was full of fireworks.
On Tuesday evening, at the end of the sixth inning with a 5-2 lead from the Dodgers, Los Angeles reliever Joe Kelly threw a 96-mile fastball that sailed behind the head of Astro’s third baseman Alex Bregman as the fourth of four points – Pitch walk.
Later in the inning, Kelly threw a curve ball that whipped from the head of Astros shortstop Carlos Correa.
Correa went on strike to end the inning and when Kelly left the hill the two words exchanged.
The benches were cleared shortly thereafter.
Kelly wasn’t on the Dodgers team that lost to the Astros in the 2017 World Series.
The two clubs should not play against each other this season in the originally drawn up MLB schedule for 2020. As the league introduces a schedule for 60 games, the two teams will play three more times this season.
Los Angeles won 5-2.
