David Villa denied the “completely false accusations” of sexual harassment, that one former New York City worker he denounced, on Twitter, that he had suffered during his time as a player for the former Asturian striker at the American club. The club announced that it will open an investigation to clarify the facts.
Last Friday a woman who identifies herself as Skyler B (@ItsmeskylerB) made New York City react by claiming to be a former employee of the club and explaining some facts that they would have gone between 2014 and 2018 with harsh accusations about Villa. “I thought I had the opportunity of a lifetime when I got an internship at New York City FC. What I got was David Villa touching me every day, and my bosses thought it was very funny. I guarantee that if anyone mentioned my name to David Villa I wouldn’t know who I am. He never called me by my name. Rarely did a day go by without him taking me or verbally harassing me, but he never bothered to learn my name, ”he wrote.
New York City issued a statement to open an investigation: “We take these allegations very seriously and do not tolerate any kind of harassment in any area of our club.” For its part, Villa defended his innocence assuring that the allegations are “completely false” and that he had no knowledge of them. “So far I have not had any direct communication on this subject, neither from Skyler B nor from the club. Of course, I will cooperate fully. It’s hard to understand why this hasn’t come out before if someone felt uncomfortable, ”he said.
