Cedric Soares is ready to fight Hector Bellerin for the role of Arsenal’s right-back

Cedric Soares is ready to fight Hector Bellerin for the chance to become Arsenal’s right-back after he finally made his debut after six months of waiting.

Cedric came to Arsenal on loan from Southampton in January, but injuries and the suspension of football due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus have stopped his progress.

The Portuguese international, who has joined Arsenal for four years free of charge, made his debut on Wednesday after falling off the bench against Norwich.

Cedric scored the last goal in the 4-0 win at the Emirates Stadium and is now ready to fight with Bellerin for a right-back starting spot.

“It’s a healthy competition. I knew Hector from before and we support each other, ”he said.

“At the moment everyone has the opportunity to play. The team needs that.

“It is very important to win whoever is playing. I am here to do my best for Arsenal.

“Of course there were moments when you were frustrated and upset [because you are not fit].

“I’m the type who is very, very passionate, so I try to give 100 percent of everything I do in life.

“I came here with all my heart, so of course I wasn’t happy with the injuries that happened in training.

“But it happened because I gave 100 percent and sometimes things will happen.

“The most important thing is how you get back, and the medical staff, my colleagues and the technical trainers supported me very well.”
