Bruno Fernandes hits Manchester United critics following Chelsea’s defeat

Bruno Fernandes has called for calm and prospect to those who criticize Manchester United after the defeat in the semi-final of the English Cup against Chelsea.

United was far below their peak in their 3-1 defeat alongside Frank Lampard and saw his hopes of winning the competition launched by Olivier Giroud and the Mason Mount strikes coupled with a goal from Harry Maguire. Only a late Fernandes penalty offered consolation to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men and will now focus on their first four battles.

United face West Ham Wednesday night in a game vital to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

And Fernandes – who tasted defeat for the first time ever with a United shirt in the Wembley semifinal – invited his teammates to refocus.

“We weren’t the best before and we’re not the worst now,” Fernandes said on Instagram.

“We are really sad about the result and missing out on the chance to win the FA Cup, something we hoped for! Now is the time to join forces and fight for our goal in the Premier League.”

United remain on the hunt for silverware in the Europa League, as well as one of the top four.

But their unbeaten streak of 19 games stopped at Wembley, with much of the control after the defeat that honed goalkeeper David de Gea. The Spaniard may have done better for both Giroud and Mount’s goals, while Fernandes was the best of United’s players on a bad day in general from start to finish.
