Bill Belichick on opt-outs: “I respect him and I totally support him”

The Patriots have been hit harder by COVID-19 denials than any other NFL team, with six New England players having previously said they won’t play in 2020. If Bill Belichick is concerned, he won’t. not show.

Belichick said today that he spoke to the six players, understood their reasoning and wished them luck.

“I respect them all,” Belichick said, via Henry McKenna of United States today. “I talked to these guys and they explained their situations, and they had to make the decisions that were best for them, and I respect her and I totally support her.

The six Patriots on the opt-out list are fullback Danny Vitale, guard Najee Toran, offensive lineman Marcus Cannon, linebacker Dont’a Hightower, running back Brandon Bolden and goalie Patrick Chung. That’s a lot of talent that won’t be on the court in New England this season, but Belichick always has a plan for any challenge that comes up.
