Arsenal are confident that they will keep Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid for another season, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has impressed since returning to Mikel Arteta’s side in February and during the break-in of the Premier League has entered into a solid partnership with Granit Xhaka in Arsenal’s midfield.

Ceballos is expected to return to Madrid after the Arsenal English Cup final against Chelsea this Saturday, but with the Gunners still losing a place in the Champions League, their budget to sign a substitute is limited.

According to the evening Standard, Arteta wants Arsenal to extend Ceballos’ loan and the midfielder also wants to stay at the Emirates stadium for another year.

The report also states that Real Madrid had planned to sell Ceballos this summer, but they are unlikely to find a buyer because of the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Madrid are therefore ready to lend Ceballos for another year before making a decision on the midfielder’s future next summer.

The Spanish newspaper AS also reports that a new loan agreement between Madrid and Arsenal for Ceballos is “almost concluded”.

Speaking earlier this month, Arteta has admitted that he wants to keep Spain international at Arsenal.

“I am really happy with him, with the way he is evolving and I love how much he likes to play football: the passion he puts into every training session and every game, you just have to see his celebrations,” said Arsenal manager.

‘Whether on the pitch or on the bench, the way he celebrates shows how much he puts and puts his life into it.

“And again I’m really happy with him, I think he’s evolving in the right way and becoming a really important player for us.”
