André Schürrle and Borussia Dortmund agree to terminate the contract

Bundesliga soccer club Borussia Dortmund and André Schürrle are finally going their separate ways. As the BVB announced on Wednesday, both parties agreed to terminate the contract. Schürrle had last played on loan with the Russian first division club Spartak Moscow, in Dortmund the 29-year-old would have had a contract until summer 2021.

Schürrle switched from VfL Wolfsburg to BVB for 30 million euros in 2016, but was unable to meet the high expectations. The offensive player played only 51 competitive games for BVB, with eight goals and ten assists.

In the 2018/2019 season, Schürrle was then awarded to Fulham FC. In summer 2019, BVB then sent him to Moscow as part of a squad reduction. Spartak and ex-Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco recently announced that they did not want to take the purchase option for the former international. Schürrle also had no perspective at BVB.
