Aldrick Rosas des Giants charged with 3 crimes after hit and run

New York Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas has been charged with three crimes before the California Superior Court following an alleged hit and run incident that occurred in June, according to the New York Daily News. Butte County, California assistant prosecutor Glenn Jennings has charged Rosas with careless driving on the highway, hit and run and property damage, and driving with a license suspended or revoked after a previous DUI. Rosas’ first appearance in court is set for September 4.

Rosas, who has been with the Giants since 2017, was arrested on June 15 by the California Highway Patrol with “his bare hands, legs and feet … covered in blood” after a hit and run attack near Chico, California at 8:25 a.m. am PT. Witnesses reported that Rosas was in a black Chevrolet SUV and was driving 90 to 100 miles an hour before “boning” a Ford pickup truck after turning on a red light. Rosas then fled the scene of the accident on foot. The Ford driver reported no injuries and Rosas was picked up by police later that day. He was taken to the Enloe medical center to treat “minor” injuries. He was then booked at Butte County Jail in Oroville, California at 2:50 p.m. before being called and released at 4:37 p.m. without bail.

“The black Chevrolet failed to stop for a red light and collided with a Ford pickup truck that was in the westbound intersection on Garner Lane,” said the New York Daily News report. “The Ford became disabled at the intersection. The driver of the [2018] Chevrolet (Rosas) attempted to flee, and the Chevrolet became disabled north of the collision scene. “The New York Giants issued a statement on Rosas, stating,” We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Aldrick. We have no further comments at this time. “

Rosas is entering her fourth season with the Giants and is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2019 season. Rosas scored 12 of 17 field goals that year, scoring 71 points. He had a breakthrough season in 2018, reaching the Pro Bowl after scoring 32 of 33 field goals while missing one of his 32 overtime attempts. Rosas scored 127 points and was also named to the second All-Pro team.
