Driver Daniel Abt returns to Formula E more than a month after his sensational dismissal at Audi. The 27-year-old German has been committed by the NIO 333 team for the last six races in Berlin.
Abt will replace the Chinese Ma Qinghua, who cannot travel to Germany because of the corona measures, next month when the Formula E season resumes.
Abt drove on behalf of Audi in the racing class for electric cars since the opening season 2014/2015, but the German company fired him after he cheated during the virtual E-Prix of Berlin. The two-time E-Prix winner dropped in for a professional gamer and was exposed during the race.

Team boss Vincent Wang compares capturing Abbot to an Eastern proverb: “The prodigal son who returns is worth more than gold,” said the CEO. “We have decided to give Daniel a chance and welcome him with open arms.”
The Formula E season will end on August 5 after a nearly six-month corona break in Berlin. Six races are planned in nine days at the former Berlin-Tempelhof airport.
