AA Gent opens negotiations for David’s departure

It seems that Lille will soon complete the very lucrative sale of Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian seems on his way to Napoli, for an amount that varies between 50 and 85 million euros, depending on the source. Part of that sum will end up at Charleroi, because the Carolos would be entitled to about 15 percent in a resale. AA Ghent could also claim a substantial part of that transfer fee.

According to The voice of the North Lille has made Jonathan David his absolute priority to replace Osimhen. Technical director Luis Campos would have been working on the Canadian attacker’s file for several months and Lille hopes to be able to snare him at the beginning of the mercato. That way they want to outrun the many other interested clubs from Germany and England.

David would not have said no in advance to the offer of the Northern French club, which will also have to find an agreement with AA Ghent. The Buffalos hope to catch as much as 30 million euros for their golden cockerel, but after the sale of Osimhen that may not be an insurmountable stumbling block.

UPDATE 4/07

Lille seems to mean to snare David. While the departure of Osimhen to Napoli is getting closer, the French say The 10 Sport officially started negotiations with AA Gent about the arrival of their 20-year-old prize gunner. At the moment Lille would not yet come close to the Ghent asking price – estimated here at 25 million euros – but the talks would go in the right direction. Technical director Luis Campos would very much like to bring David to Lille, but will keep an eye on it and would also explore other options.

POLL: Do you think AA Ghent will get its 25 million?
