A robotic camera approached Luka Doncic’s head

Ever since the NBA has moved forward with its bubble restart at Orlando’s Walt Disney World, the first returns have been encouraging. There have been no positive tests in the bubble. The resorts look like decent hosts for the NBA teams. And the setup on the field went well in the scripts.

But in the interest of the safety of the players (and photographers), there have been more remote cameras in the bubble than we would normally see in a pre-pandemic game. And Mavericks star Luka Doncic almost paid the price after a close encounter with a robotic camera during the Dallas 76er fight.

As Doncic chased a loose ball near the sideline, he leaned over a partition on the side of the field just as a robotic camera approached him on his track.

Doncic saw the camera – which apparently accelerated as he approached him – just in time and pulled his head back to avoid what would have been extremely painful.

Most likely, the operator of that camera was just looking at that specific camera’s feed and couldn’t see Luka right here. But it could also be Skynet. Don’t let Skynet infiltrate the NBA bubble – it won’t end well.
