49ers remind fans to “be a saint, grab a face mask”

Usually it’s the NFC South that piles up the New Orleans Saints on Twitter.

An old NFC West rival joined in on Thursday, conveying an important message.

With the COVID-19 pandemic in California and across the country, the San Francisco 49ers released a PSA on Twitter encouraging their followers to wear masks.

What could be nicer than reliving one of the greatest pieces of the 2019 season? George Kittle’s monster, which drove along the Superdome sideline in December, ended with the Saints’ defenders desperately clawing at Kittle to pull him to the ground.

And it was perfect for a contemporary mask joke.

“Be a saint”

Kittles game prepared the 49ers for a win from behind, which brought the 49ers to No. 1 and a goodbye in the first round in the playoffs. It also forced the 13-3 Saints into No. 3, leading to a playoff loss in the first round against the Minnesota Vikings.

It’s a proud moment for the 49ers. And an ideal platform to remind everyone that more people wearing masks are slowing the spread of COVID-19.
