49ers news: Damontre Moore visits Niners after team places Ronald Blair on active / puppy roster

According to Howard Balzer, the San Francisco 49ers had a visit with Damontre Moore, who spent time with the Niners last season. The 49ers signed Moore after dominating the AAF in the spring of 2019. In two games, Moore appeared to be the perfect pass carrier for the 49ers to come off the bench and kick their starters. Moore recorded seven total pressures, and also had four saves and a forced fumble in just 55 shots. Moore showed he can rush the passer in the preseason, and that continued into the regular season when he finally got the chance.

Moore fractured his forearm in the Packers’ blowout in Week 12, which ended his season. San Francisco didn’t bring Moore back in the last offseason when he became an unrestricted free agent. Bringing Moore back would signal that Ronald Blair is not as close to returning to training as the team had hoped. The 49ers placed Blair on the Active / Pup list earlier this week. Blair could be taken off the roster anytime before the regular season starts, even after training. If Moore returns, it would likely be a temporary replacement for Blair.

Moore has been in the NFL since 2013 and has played 1,000 shots, which equates to about a full season of shots. It’s more experience than Kenativus Street or Jonathan Kongbo. In the absence of organized activities during the offseason, it would make more sense to rely on a veteran like Moore, who has proven he can play at the NFL level. Bringing Moore back would be a wise move.
