In Polkowice, two realities collided side by side in the 2nd league. On the one hand, the hosts – Górnik, who has little money at their disposal, in whose ranks two players combine playing football with work in a copper mine. On the other guests – Widzew Łódź, the richest team in the third level of the game, sparing no salaries for footballers with a premiership past, the first in the table, the favorite for promotion. Unexpectedly, the locals were leaving the field happy after winning 4: 3.
Górnik drew conclusions from the defeat of Lech II Poznań (2: 3) from RTS. Kolejorz was leading with a four-time national champion 2: 0, but failed to maintain a favorable result. The team of trainer Enkeleid Dobie found a way – they simply gained such an advantage that even Widzew could not make up for the losses. In the 41st minute it was already 4: 1 for the team from Polkowice. If the team from Lodz expected that after two wins in a row opponents would start to be afraid of it, then in Lower Silesia was brutally driven out of error. Maybe Górnik does not have big names, although it was not a coincidence that before the beginning of the competition he could boast of the third offensive of the second league, and after the end – already the second. Only people in Łódź are more effective. But not this Saturday.
They may wonder about the choices of trainer Marcin Kaczmarek. After the resumption of the season after a break caused by the coronavirus, Widzew played one good match – with Lech’s reserves, besides he did poorly, and yet the coach stubbornly bets on the same composition. He decides to change only when he has to and can thank the fate that due to the pause for Marcin Robak’s yellow cards he had no choice and Rafał Wolsztyński played from the beginning. It was only thanks to the hat-trick of the attacking RTS that he hoped for a draw until the end of the match.
In addition, Henrik Ojamaa was again in the starting eleven. Why? Apparently, a good match and Christopher Mandiang’s goal in the last round is still not enough to give him a chance from the first minute. The defensive statement also raises doubts. The best in defense of the RTS was at the end of the autumn round, when the duo of stopwaters formed Sebastian Rudol with Daniel Tanżyna. With the two in the center of the formation, the team from Łódź won five of six matches in the last six matches of 2020, without losing a goal four times (balance 18-2). After the transfer of Hubert Wołąkiewicz, the former Polish representative is partnering Tanżyna, whose effects are not impressive – 16 goals lost in eight queues, of which three in Polkowice, when the two were together on the pitch. After half an hour Wołąkiewicz was changed due to injury.
Widzew remained the leader, but Górnik Łęczna approached him on two points. The fight for direct promotion to the first league is still going on and RTS supporters still can’t be sure that this time their team will not disappoint as a year ago.

Marcin Kaczmarek (Widzewa coach): When three goals are scored away and four goals are lost, it means that our defensive play was terrible. I do not want to talk too much, because in three days we have another important match and we have to recover from this defeat, which hurts us, but maybe it taught us something. I’m not going to rate the team from Polkowice, because we played sometimes worse than juniors. However, the last thing we need is scratching the wounds, because we don’t have enough time for the next meeting.
I believe that we will not play so badly on the defensive. We must make good use of the time remaining until the next match. I still believe that the season will end positively and in the locker room I said that now it is important how we react to today’s defeat during the match with Elana.
Enkeleid Dobi (Górnik coach): We have respect for Widzewa because we know the possibilities of this club, but today we needed three points and my players left a piece of health on the pitch. We are happy with the victory, but I must admit that the second lost goal has put some nerves in our ranks. We beat another rival, and our goal is to keep.
