Under Armor wants to end 15 years, $ 280 million with UCLA

Under Armor is trying to break its 15-year contract with UCLA for $ 280 million.

“Under Armor recently made the difficult decision to end our partnership with UCLA because we paid for marketing benefits that we haven’t received over a long period of time,” the company said in a statement on Saturday. “The agreement allows us to terminate in such a case and we are exercising that right.”

UCLA and Under Armor closed the $ 280 million deal in May 2016 and it entered into force in July 2017. As of September 2019, it was the biggest college apparel deal, according to Forbes.

“UCLA Athletics learned this week that Under Armor is trying to terminate its 15-year apparel and shoe contract with us and the Bruin community,” the school said in a statement on Saturday. “We’re reviewing all of our ways to resist Under Armor’s actions. We continue to strive to provide our hard-working employees and athletes with the shoes, clothing and equipment necessary to train and train at the highest level compete the way they – and our loyal Bruin fans – deserve. “

Under Armor’s attempt comes when UCLA is moving to Martin Jarmond as the new sports director. Former Boston College AD will replace Dan Guerrero next week.
