Stan Collymore sends a request to the owners of the Aston Villa through Dean Smith

Stan Collymore has told Aston Villa owners to fire Dean Smith and appoint a “big name manager”.

After the 0-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday on home soil, Villa is in great trouble in the Premier League. Smith’s team has not won in the last eight league games and are now facing a massive double header against Liverpool and Manchester United.

Smith’s position was reportedly reviewed on Saturday night, but since then, further claims have surfaced that Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens will stay with him for the last six games.

However, Villa’s former striker Collymore believes the club should act now to give themselves a chance to survive.

In his Daily Mirror column, Collymore wrote: “The big question for all Aston Villa fans now is: what’s the plan? Do you want to keep Dean Smith and John Terry but lose Jack Grealish and John McGinn?

“I would throw the sink in to get a well-known manager now.

“It would be a final success if you stayed up late, and if a new boss could do it, these two mercury talents might just want to stay and play for him next season.”
