Wallabies legend Matt Giteau is expected to travel to Major League Rugby in the US for the 2021 season to further expand the ranks of legendary Australian players and coaches in the growing competition.
Centurions Matt Giteau and Adam Ashley-Cooper will sign for the new LA Giltinis team before the next season, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The competition is attended by Wallabies veteran Drew Mitchell, who represents Rugby United New York.

The 2020 season, in which Ashley-Cooper was expected to play for Austin Gilgronis, was canceled earlier this year after only five rounds due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Warringah coaches Sam Harris and Mark Gerrard have been announced as Austin’s coaches, while Australian compatriots Darren Coleman and Stephen Hoiles are responsible for LA. Both clubs are owned by the Australian rugby investment group Loyals Rugby, led by Adam Gilchrist of the F45 training chain (not the legendary cricketer).
The Australian connection will pay off as the 103-test warrior Giteau appears to be ready to extend his well-traveled career to compete against the United States. Giteau has spent the last three seasons in Japan with Suntory, but the 37-year-old had said 2020 would be his last season.
The names of the Australian franchise companies – Giltinis and Gilgronis – are derived from cocktails that Gilchrist’s group used as a trademark last year. Other brands in the group are “Gil Tai”, “Gilacolada”, “Giljito”, “Gilgarita” and “Gilmopolitan”. None of the drinks have been released so far.
