Rangers FC struck a blow to the ex-Leeds United man

Rangers FC has big plans to retake the city of Glasgow.

It was her rival Celtic who has dominated Scottish football in recent years after securing nine straight titles in the Premier League.

But with the 10th in sight, Steven Gerrard’s team will have ambitions to bring the next title back to Ibrox.

If they want to do that, the rangers need to strengthen themselves in the transfer market – something that they are already showing signs of.

Jon McLaughlin is the biggest arrival after signing a free transfer from Sunderland, but contracts for Jermain Defoe, Ianis Hagi, and Calvin Bassey have also been signed.

Strengthening the attacking ranks seems to be a priority in speculating about Alfredo Morelo’s future, and that has led them to the door of a well-known personality.

According to HLN, Rangers was denied an offer for Kemar Roofe via the Anderlecht fansite Anderlecht Online.

The striker is currently playing for Anderlecht after moving from Leeds United 12 months ago.

It is reported that the offer for a seasonal loan contract was with the option of a permanent contract, but this offer was rejected by the Belgian giants.

Roofe, valued at £ 4.5m by Transfermarkt, is a household name at Ibrox. The Glasgow team made a deal with the striker last summer just to miss the Belgian giants who signed the player in for £ 7m.

But after a successful season on the continent, the club appears to be returning with a second attempt to lure him into the club.

Any change depends on what happens to Morelos, who has been linked to a £ 15m change to several clubs this summer.

Roofe undoubtedly showed his scoring goals last season after scoring seven goals in just 16 games in an injury-related season.

But if Rangers could keep the striker fit, he would almost certainly be a reliable source of goals.

Phil Spencer from GIVEMESPORT says …

What a deal that would be.

While a move to Rangers FC depends on Alfredo Morelos being sold, Kemar Roofe would certainly be a suitable replacement.

Morelos was excellent for Steven Gerrard’s team, but if the interest in him becomes something essential, the club needs a suitable replacement.

The former Leeds man has an impressive record on goal and that would undoubtedly go on if he moved to Glasgow.

I would love for this deal to happen, but I’m sure most fans would prefer to keep Alfredo Morelos in the club for a while.
