The Los Angeles Lakers schedule for the last eight games of the 2020 season has been announced.

The Los Angeles Lakers will return to action Thursday, July 30, and we now know who the Lakers will play in the last eight games before the season starts.

Initially, it was speculated that the league would simply pick up where it left off in the program to end the 2020 season, only skipping the teams that weren’t invited to Orlando. While there are some overlaps, this is not the idea behind the league.

Instead, the Lakers’ slate of eight games (with dates) is as follows:

  • July 30: Los Angeles Clippers
  • August 1: Toronto Raptors
  • August 3: Utah Jazz
  • August 5: Oklahoma City Thunder
  • August 6: Houston Rockets
  • August 8: Indiana Pacers
  • August 10: Denver Nuggets
  • August 13: Sacramento Kings

The Lakers-Clippers game is part of a doubleheader alongside a Jazz-Pelicans game that will kick off the resumption of the season.

Just like we did with the old program, it is said, here are our game by game predictions for the last eight Lakers games.

1. Los Angeles Lakers vs. Los Angeles Clippers – Win

Any Clipper fan who’s reading this might call it bias, but this comes from an impartial source: I think the Los Angeles Lakers are better suited for this sprint in the NBA finals and that they will show in the first game of the second half.

I think it should be of concern or to the Clippers that their best lineup hasn’t often played together. Sure, you could argue that we haven’t seen the best version of the team yet, but they haven’t even developed the same type of chemistry on the field as LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers’ roster.

Now, with the break, all those load management games really mean nothing. The advantage is removed and now all that remains is the disadvantage it has caused.

I think the Lakers are trying to make a statement and even complete the season series with the Clippers.

2. Los Angeles Lakers against Toronto Raptors – Loss

In our first prediction, the Lakers were losing against the Raptors and I think the same will happen in this prediction. After a game fought with the Clippers, the Raptors will enter this game with something to prove and limit the Raptors.

The Raptors are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league (they rank sixth in three-point percentage and fourth in three points per game), which will help them in this matchup.

Without Avery Bradley, the Raptors certainly have the edge on the perimeter. They will overtake the Lakers for a four point win.
