Nottingham Forest joins a fighting game for the former Manchester United defender

Nottingham Forest has been linked with a move by Nicholas Ioannou, former Manchester United and Cyprus.

According to reports, the Reds have an interest in the Apoel Nicosia defender who has had another stellar club season.

24 Sports say Forest is keen to lure him to City Ground with the 24-year-old central defender who says he is open to leaving Apoel.

Ioannou is reported to be part of a double hit with Apoel’s teammate and the outstanding Musa Tamari heading for Olympiakos, who are also owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

Ioannou started his United career at the age of 12 after being scouted on a football field in Nicosia.

He continued to study his craft together with Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay. He was captain of the United reserve team, but left to join Apoel Nicosia in 2014.

In November, he made his full Champions League debut against Paris St Germain, where they lost 1-0.

He signed a three-year contract in 2016, but was only extended a year later with his current deal which will expire next summer.

Ioannou has represented his country 18 times.
