The wide receiver of free agents Antonio Brown would arouse the interest of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the 2020 season.

JT The Brick of Mad Dog Sports Radio and Michael Lombardi of The Athletic heard rumors on Tuesday linking Brown to the Bucs, who have already added former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski to their attack during the off-season:

Signing Brown would represent a U-turn from Tampa head coach Bruce Arians.

In March, Arians explained on CBS Sports Network (via ESPN Jenna Laine), he did not consider the seven-time selection of the Pro Bowl a good choice for the organization.

“Yeah, it won’t happen,” said Arians. “There’s no room. And probably not enough money. But it’s not going to happen – it’s not a solution here.”

He added, “Yeah, I just know him, and it’s not right in our locker room.”

The NFL double coach of the year held a similar position when he took over the Bucs in 2019 and discussed Brown on the Adam Schefter Podcast (via Kevin patra from NFL.com).

“There are too many communication problems, too … diva,” said Arians. “I’ve heard so many stories – I love Antonio – he plays as hard as anyone on Sunday and he trains hard. He just has to make better decisions off the field, be on time, make some of these little things. “

Brown was one of the top receivers in the league during his nine-year run with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010 to 2018. He was first in receptions (837) and receiving yards (11,207) on this period and placed second with touchdowns (74) behind only Gronkowski (79), Pro Football reference.

The 31-year-old Miami native was traded to the Oakland Raiders in March 2019, but only lasted six months with the organization before being released after conflicts with general manager Mike Mayock.

He signed with the Patriots in September and caught a touchdown during his team debut. He was released before making another appearance with the team in the middle out of scope issues.

Britney Taylor, who worked as a coach for Brown, filed a federal complaint which was later dismissed and re-filed at the state level in Florida, alleging three sexual assaults by the NFL player in 2017 and 2018, including a case of rape. He sued her, alleging that the “false and defamatory” statements made her suffer “a significant financial loss”.

Robert Klemko of Sports Illustrated According to reports, Brown was also charged with sexual misconduct by a woman he had hired to paint a mural of him at his home. The woman told Klemko that Brown approached her naked with only a towel covering her genitals while she was working on the mural. After the article was published, Klemko reported that the woman had received intimidating text messages from the same number she had previously used to communicate with Brown.

After the texts alleged to Brown’s wife emerged, the Patriots released him.

Earlier this month, he did not plead any competition in a battery case resulting from an altercation in January with a moving truck driver.

It is possible that Brown may face NFL discipline if he signs with a team for 2020:

Meanwhile, the Bucs already have five top targets in their roster, including one of the best widest duos in the NFL, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. They also have three tight ends that can impact Gronkowski, Cameron Brate and OJ Howard.

Although the addition of Brown would make the attack even more of a nightmarish clash for opponents, even if the front office swapped out one of the weak spots for an upgrade elsewhere on the list, try to find enough targets to for everyone to always be involved would be a struggle.

If the Arians already had reservations about the trends of the “diva” of the first All-Pro team four times before, it is unlikely that these will be mitigated when it is not guaranteed more than a few touches per game.

That said, the Bucs are on the verge of winning a championship after removing Brady from the Pats for a $ 50 million, two-year contract contract, and there is no doubt that signing Brown would further enhance the benefits of an already well-known offense.
