Manchester United gets agonizing win and advances to FA CUP semifinals

Manchester United advanced to the FA Cup semifinals on Saturday, when it required overtime to beat 2-1 Norwich to 10 men.

Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krull made five providential saves after defender Timm Klose was sent off in the 89th minute. But with three remaining from the second overtime, Harry Maguire sentenced the result.

After a corner kick, the center-back slipped to push an ownerless ball into the goal, finally breaking Norwich’s resistance.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, coach of United, excluded several key players from the trip, and paid for it with a poor performance by his team until 51 minutes, when striker Odion Ighalo reacted well to push with his booty a high ball that ended in the networks.

Todd Cantwell posed the greatest threat to Norwich and equalized at 75, with a shot from near the penalty area. The ball touched a glove of the Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero and entered glued to a post.

Klose was sent off for holding Ighalo by the waist just outside the area.
