Kieran Trippier meets Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino via the Tottenham exit

Kieran Trippier beat up Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy for the way they dealt with his exit from Tottenham.

Full-back Trippier left North London after four seasons and 114 appearances last summer when La Liga club Atletico Madrid signed him for £ 20m.

But Trippier has revealed that he was pretty much forced to leave Spurs after manager Pochettino and chairman Levy refused to give him assurances about his future.

Trippier said to The Beautiful Game Podcast: “Yes, I knocked on his [Pochettino’s] Door and I said I have the option to go to Atletico Madrid.

Trippier was not happy with how Pochettino dealt with his departure

“If I’m part of your plans, I’ll stay. He didn’t give me a yes and he didn’t give me a no in his office.

“So as a player you think ‘oh, okay, no problem’.

“Then I went to the chairman and said exactly the same thing to him.

Trippier came to Atletico Madrid last summer

“I had a conversation with the manager and said am I part of your plans? If so, no problem, but I have a great opportunity to go to Atletico Madrid here.

“But back to what I said before: In March / April I hear from people I trust that they tried to unload me. I offer clubs.”

Argentinian Pochettino, who left the club in November, previously insisted that there were no meetings before the England international had already agreed a deal from Atleti.

“The only conversation when he [Trippier] When he came when he came to visit me after the summer, he asked me to meet and said: “Gaffer, I think I have a good chance and for various reasons I want to accept Atlético Madrid’s offer,” said Pochettino said last Year.

“He didn’t ask me anything. He only announced whether the club would accept the offer. Nothing more. It wasn’t a conversation – do you want me? Or don’t you want me? “
