Franco Costanzo: “At River, several of us were Boca fans” – River Plate

Franco Costanzo, a former goalkeeper who wore the River jersey between 2000 and 2005, acknowledged that, like several of his former inferior teammates who lived in the club’s pension, in his childhood he was a fan of Boca.

“I followed my old man and my brother Lucas a lot. At home, my old woman was from San Lorenzo, my sister from River and the rest were from Boca,” he revealed during an interview with The nation.

“Obviously, afterwards we all ended up being from River, except my old man, who when he played a classic in Primera told me: ‘Good luck and let’s tie.” That is how far his love went, ha, “he said.

“At River’s boarding house, several of us were Boca fans, but you started to put on River’s shirt and you want to win. You feel the rivalry, and although you don’t hate the rival, you realize that the better River and worse to Boca, the weather will be different at the club, “he continued.

The 37-year-old former soccer player explained that with the passage of time he took love for the Núñez club. “I grew up in River, I lived three years in the River pension, I studied there, I spent 10 years in the club, there is no way that you will not transform and end up wanting the colors and feeling that River is your club,” he explained.

“Today I am from River and my older brother, who was from Boca, is a fan of River and takes his children to the Monumental. I do not tell you how I celebrated these years or how I screamed the goals in Madrid,” he completed.

And he remembered that on the stage with the Millionaire he did not like giving notes. “I wanted to be invisible, to play in River and that nobody knew me. It was ridiculous, almost impossible, but I was never interested in knowing who I was, I did not like everything that came in the combo of being a River goalkeeper,” he said.
