Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland rejected the idea that he could be ready to leave the club only six months after joining Red Bull Salzburg amid transfer links to Manchester United.
The Reds were interested in the Norwegian national team during the January transfer window, following its exceptional form for the Austrian side.
However, Haaland instead opted to switch to the Bundesliga. The striker started off thrillingly in Germany, scoring 16 goals in his first 17 appearances for Dortmund.
Despite joining the club only at the beginning of the year, Haaland continues to be connected with an exit, with some outlets suggesting that Dortmund could cash in on the 19-year-old in the next transfer window. His contract is believed to contain a release clause of around £ 60 million which reportedly attracted interest from United and Real Madrid.
Haaland categorically rejected the idea of leaving Dortmund anytime soon and reiterated his intention to win trophies with the German team.
“I live in the present,” he said WAZ. “I have just arrived in Dortmund and am not thinking of leaving for now.
“Dortmund is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I have signed a long-term contract and I don’t think much about the future.
“I decide what is the best thing for my career here and now. I want to get something important with Borussia, not to always be second, but also to win the title as soon as possible.
“Next year we set goals, we want to score more goals and I want to contribute as a striker.”
