Rafał Gikiewicz played his last meeting in Union on Saturday. The Polish goalkeeper will leave the Berlin team.
Golkiper was an important figure in the Union squad. First, he helped the team from the German capital rise to the Bundesliga, and then – to stay in it.
However, his adventure with Union came to an end. The Pole’s contract has not been extended, so Gikiewicz will change employer.
After Union’s victory over Fortuna Düsseldorf 3: 0, the goalkeeper stood in front of TV cameras and could not hide his emotion. Tears appeared in the Pole’s eyes.
Gikiewicz was appreciated by Union supporters – they came to the stadium and after the final whistle chanted his name. Fans thanked the Pole for playing in the Berlin club.
The goalkeeper posted on Twitter in which he referred to the period of play in Union. – Thank you for everything – he wrote.
