Eibar take a big step to save themselves and move Valencia away from Europe

Eibar took a big step forward in the fight for permanence by winning 1-0 on Thursday against a Valencia that disappointed, almost did not create danger in Ipurúa and lost with a goal in Geoffrey Kondogbia’s own goal.

Albert Celades had recognized the day before that to be up you have to win away from home, but in the first part he preferred to temporize and leave the initiative to a hard-pressed Eibar, who showed his best face in many days during that period.

Cillessen was not very sure and they were about to take advantage of the Eibar forwards on a couple of occasions, although curiously the goal came in a friendly fire from Kondogbia.

INCIDENCES:

It rained at the Ipurua stadium during the match. Eibar’s coach, José Luis Mendilibar, completed the second penalty game and watched the match from the stands.

A corner kick without apparent danger to which several Barça players entered in droves generated the error of the Central African soccer player in his attempt to clear, with which he introduced the ball into his own goal.

Eibar had the game where they wanted, a result in favor, a Valencia in need and many holes to make that direct football implanted by José Luis Mendilibar that has given him good results until the last matches of this season.

The Valencian team did not worry Dmitrovic throughout the first period, but he was about to benefit from two actions in which there could have been a penalty, one for grabbing Gayà and, in the final stretch, another for a kick to the head of Cote Guedes. In both actions, the VAR did not intervene.

Eibar did not speculate on the scoreboard and in the second period they again managed to shake a Valencia that had to be used thoroughly in each divided ball because the Barça players were with the cane prepared to close the match.

Cote had the great option for it in a direct free kick that went to goal until a flying glove by Cillessen deflected it to a corner kick.

The Valencian team kept their football languid until the end, with no hope of equaling a clash in which Cillessen had to shine to avoid the second goal and become one more attacking player at the end of the match.
