Manchester United boss Ed Woodward plans to sign Jadon Sancho this summer. It is an open secret that the Red Devils want to sign the Borussia Dortmund star, who has electrified the Bundesliga this season with impressive performances. But doing that is easier said than done. Sancho absolutely wants to switch to United – but only if the club can offer him Champions League football next season.
And from today’s perspective, that’s not the case.
The Red Devils are fifth in the Premier League, five points behind Chelsea, after the Blues beat Manchester City 2-1 on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge.
If City appeals against the ban on the Champions League, that’s not enough.
United could win the Europa League to sneak into the tournament through the back door, but that’s a difficult task as Wolves and Inter Milan continue to fight for the prize.

The third and final obstacle that United has to overcome when landing Sancho is the interest of its rivals.
Chelsea remains keen on the England international, even if the focus seems to be on Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz for the time being.
An interest in Sancho was also attributed to Barcelona, especially if it did not renew Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
Real Madrid are always looking for the best players in world football and they too have turned out to be applicants for Sancho.
And Manchester City cannot be discounted either.

What Solskjaer said
Solskjaer was asked if he would like to sign Borussia Dortmund players before the FA Cup against Norwich City takes place on Saturday.
