After Wednesday’s celebrations of the Slavic title, footballer Josef Hušbauer experienced the opposite feelings today. With the Dynamo Dresden, where he came from Eden to host in the winter, he dropped out of the second German league. The Saxon team finished last in the table after drawing 2: 2 with Osnabrück.

Dynamo led 2: 0 thanks to Patrick Schmidt, who scored Hušbauer in the 59th minute. In the end, however, the home team lost the lead within five minutes. Even a win would not avert the descent of Dresden. Hušbauer played for 81 minutes, another Czech midfielder Ondřej Petrák spent the whole match on the field.

Bielefeld, who has secured the promotion before, will accompany Stuttgart to the highest competition. VfB returns to the elite a year after the descent despite a 1: 3 defeat with Darmstadt. Former German representative Mario Gómez took care of the only goal of the home team, who ended his career after the match.

“After a broken last season, this was my last goal,” said Gómez, who started a professional career in Stuttgart in 2003. He then played for Fiorentina, Besiktas, Wolfsburg and especially Bayern Munich, with which he won two titles and won the Champions League.

“I’m very happy to have said goodbye in Stuttgart, I appreciate it. I’ve always wanted to repay the club and end my career here, which I never dreamed of,” added Gómez, who helped Stuttgart to the title in 2007. With the national team, he has bronze from the 2010 World Cup and silver from the Euro in 2008.

The third Heidenheim, who lost 0: 3 in Bielefeld, also failed. The fight to return to the first league did not work out again for Hamburg, which suffered a 1: 5 debacle with Sandhausen, remained fourth and will not play a draw. Hamburg fell from the highest competition for the first time in history the year before.
